December

How is it that December is here already?   It seems that Thanksgiving came and went so quickly.
I managed to get some new things listed in the shop and I'm so pleased with how they came out!

I really like that this table runner brings some cheer to a winter table! *Almost* feels like spring.

Have you been following along with Lori Holt's Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas quilt-a-long?
Lori has done a great job posting blocks on Instagram and they can be made in conjunction with Lori's book Quilty Fun.  I couldn't resist joining in on the fun!  Here is my finished quilt top!

I took advantage of the snowy November day to use as a backdrop to the quilt top. We're so lucky in Buffalo to have gotten so much snow before winter has even set in! (Wink, wink)

I hope to work on the quilt border over the coming weekend. It would be nice to finish before the actual holiday.

What holiday projects are you working on??

November

How is it November already?? Sometimes I feel like time is moving way too fast, and I'm not ready for what's next.

A few weeks back we took a drive out to a local apple farm, and out a little further to get pumpkins.  It was quite the brisk day out but we even drove out to the lake. Lola loved it out there!

Just look at all those apples!

I've been doing some sewing, although not as much as I'd like.  I finished these table toppers a couple weeks ago, and listed them in my shop. I pieced them using all Denyse Schmidt fabrics. They measure 19 inches by 19 inches. I quite like how they turned out!

I also recently purchased Lori Holt's Quilty Fun book and boy is it fun! I used her pattern to piece these apples and whip up a couple mini quilts. One of them is already hanging on my wall. The one below is in my shop.  It measures 11 inches by 13 inches. Yay for apples!

Here in Western New York the temperatures have been getting colder. In fact, it snowed earlier today! Last weekend, though it was quite cold out, the pets lined up on the deck to catch some sun.
I am grateful to have such nice pets!

Recent Makes

I know I'm late on hopping the bandwagon, but I am having a great time making blocks from Moda Modern Building Blocks!  I am enjoying being able to piece a block here or there, knowing that in the end I will have a stack of great blocks to piece a quilt.  I've only made a few so far.

I love the way the fabrics blend together in the block below!

This one might be my favorite so far!

And look at the kitties!  Eeep! I can't get enough of the Cotton and Steel kitties.

It looks as though Fat Quarter Shop will be getting more of the Moda Modern Building Blocks pattern in October.  You can also reserve a Moda Modern Building Blocks Quilt Kit through FQS.

I am having great fun pulling fabrics my stash to create each block.  I am not putting too much thought into it, but just going with what I feel drawn to. I look forward to having a scrappy quilt in the end!

What projects are you having fun with right now?

Weekending

Weekends seem to go just too darn fast, don't you think? I had a good one. Sewed a sweet quilt top for myself using my beloved Cotton and Steel, and made Pasta Puttanesca (recipe from The Pioneer Woman and it was delish!). Meanwhile, Tex and Harry sunbathed. Temperatures are getting cooler, a sure sign that fall is on its way. I've started a Halloween cross stitch sampler that I have been neglecting to begin since last year. I am having fun so far, and it is a nice distraction from quilting and sewing which I do all the time. What do you like best about the fall?

On the Machine

Or is it in the machine? I've been having one heck of a good time playing with my stack of Cotton and Steel, this weekend.  I'm crushing hard on this fabric line!

Those Tiger Stripes are the best. The. Best. Like my-fave-kitty-fabric best.

Do you have a favorite Cotton and Steel print?  The quality of the fabric is amazing.

I've also been working on some new stuff for my shop.  I finished this dresden plate table mat recently. I do love a dresden plate!

What's your favorite thing to quilt?

I hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend!

Lately

To celebrate turning another year older, I completed a quilt for me! I couldn't get great photos yesterday because it was so dreary. It's generous in size around the 55 by 55 range. I plan to use it on top of my bed.

I used a variety of favorite prints for the back. I used a print from the new Cotton and Steel line to bind it. I love that new fabric line! Have you seen it? One of our local quilt shops just got in the entire line. On Friday, I went to see it, and of course, bought some. ;)

Another project in the works is a couple more Dresden pin cushions. I love making Dresden plates!

This morning I was admiring one of my sweet rose bushes. It was covered in dew.

We've been having a lot of rain lately so on the rare sunny day, the cats have been enjoying life out on the deck!

Quilty Finishes

Hello and happy week to you all! It seems as though time is just flying by these days. I can hardly believe we are halfway through July already.

Over the weekend I finished a couple things. The first is this scrappy table runner which has been listed in my shop. It measures 10 1/2 inches by 31 inches.  I quite like how it turned out!  It feels like a breath of fresh air. Much like bringing the summer indoors.
Table runner has sold. Thank you!

The second project is one that I must admit had been lingering.  This is my quilt-a-long quilt that I started last fall with sweet Donna of Donna's Lavender Nest.  I finally got the binding stitched down. I am in love! It's bright and cheery and will make a great throw when the weather cools down once more.

Next up, I plan to finish up some other UFO's including some Halloween themed quilts. I just love Halloween. It also feels so good to finish up projects!

What are you working on finishing up?
