Camera Cozy

So, two days before I left on my vacation I realized that I didn't have a bag for my DSLR, and I was hesitant to just throw it in my carry on tote. Of course I got  a bee in my bonnet  that I needed a scrappy, padded zipper top bag to serve the purpose! Finished at the 11th hour but just in time to take on my trip.

I basically pieced the front and back using various scrap bits from my stash, and then quilted those pieces lightly using some cotton batting I had on hand.

I used a fun cheery print to line it, added a zipper and voila!

I love how it turned out and it's the perfect size. I protected my camera without being to roomy so my camera couldn't move around in transport.

A signature kitty applique graces the front. I couldn't resist!

Last weekend I made a trip to JoAnn to snatch up some of Denyse Schmidt's latest line, Blossom Reel. All the above fabrics are from that line with the exception of the second from the bottom which came from a previously released line but coordinates so nicely with Blossom Reel.  I spared no time cutting into the stack and have already sewed a small quilt top with it! It's so bright and cheery. Love.

In cat news, I think they *may* have forgiven me for taking them to be boarded while I was away. But with temperatures hitting near 90 today, I wish there was a way to make it cooler for them. Thank heavens for a ceiling fan in the living room!

Just did a small shop update yesterday. I plan to sew some more stuff this weekend!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Vacation

This trip was a long time coming. My friends and I deposited on it last September. Because of when I moved to NY (October), I didn't get to visit with family for the holidays and had to accrue vacation time for the past 6 months. Well, it was worth the wait! I had the most wonderful vacation a girl could ask for. Good friends, sunshine, and my favorite men. Bliss.

I brought my new camera and it did not disappoint! Here is just a sampling of the photos I took.

My cup runneth over....

Flowers and Kittens

I stitched up this floral embroidery many months ago and I'm finally getting around to posting it. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with the finished design and decided on a simple hoop to act as a frame.  Simple but adds some pretty to my apartment.

After reading Heather's post yesterday, I was inspired to pull out my kitty stitchery,  stitched last year some time, and start sewing it into something! Hoping to get it finished this weekend. More photos soon!

This beautiful lilac bush is outside of where I work.  I remembered to bring my camera today to snap some photos. It smells so lovely! Looks like spring is here!

Enjoy your Friday.  Any fun plans for the weekend? Do tell!

Scrap Graveyard

This post is brought to you by Harry. He likes sunning in the window just as much as I love my scraps!

So, over the weekend I was cutting away and found myself with this lovely little pile of scraps. Actually there are even more pieces then this. Shhhh, don't tell. ;) I found myself simply unable to throw them out. Do you do that to?

I mean look at that cute kitten face in the pale green print on the end. Could you throw him out? ;)
I am in the process of deciding what to do with these leftovers!

All those pieces came as a result of cutting wedges for these Dresden plates. I use this ruler. Makes cutting wedges a breeze!

I've had mini pincushions swirling in my head for a while now. Yesterday I pieced this one using teeny, tiny leftover scraps. I'm quite smitten. Especially with the vintage button I put in the center!

More of these beauties are coming. They will be added to my shop soon!

What's your favorite thing to make with scraps?
