In other sewing news, when I got back from NYC I took a couple days to recuperate. During that time I finished piecing my Zig Zag quilt. I think I love it. It's going to be throw size....roughly 44 by 44 inches but it does the job. Going to be perfect for those winter cat naps on the couch.

WIP Tuesday
Today's post is brought to you by WIP's: always too many of them, and never enough time!
I find that I get so excited about what's coming up next that I can hardly finish one thing, and sometimes I don't, before I pick up something else. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I just feel like sometimes my creative energy is more then I can handle! Last weekend I did not work on the Zig Zag quilt, currently a WIP, but instead opted to start a baby quilt made from a charm pack I had in my stash. The print is Tula Pink Hushabye. I love these fabrics. I also have a jelly roll of the same line that I *hope* to make into a full size quilt. Hopefully sooner then later. So far so good with the baby version. It has been sandwiched together and pinned. Ready to be quilted soon.
I have wanted to make these vintage shorts for some time. On Saturday, after working on the baby quilt, I decided to switch gears and start the shorts. The pattern is a 1945 Simplicity that I have had for a while. The fabric is this vintagey gold linen/rayon blend from Joann fabrics. So far so good I think. Though I find I always get frustrated when sewing clothing from a vintage pattern because the artist's drawing on the front of the pattern is not typically what the item looks like when sewn!
Thursday I fly up to NYC for some fun with the girls and a couple nights at Radio City. I'm looking forward to some fun times and a trip to Purl Soho!

Quilt Block
I decided I want to help with Anna Maria Horner's Rainbow Around the Block project.
Local TN quilters plan to sew together all donated quilt blocks to make beautiful quilts to
donate to those effected by the Nashville floods. This is my first block:

I Heart Zig Zags
I started piecing my zig zag quilt this past weekend. So far, I'm in love. Last weekend I spentseveral hours cutting 5 inch squares out of various fabrics from my stash. This is what my squares look like:
After piecing started yesterday, this is what I had:
So far so good! It's only going to be throw size but my mind is already turning with what to use the other squares for. ;-) Does this happen to you, too? I feel so scattered sometimes when it comes to quilting. Can't. Get. Quilt. Done. Soon. Enough. Always something else lurking in my mind...some other cotton/batting goodness waiting to be created! I'm trying to remind myself to stop and enjoy the process. Deep breath. That's better.
Another yummy thing was the homemade mango and tomato salsa I made on Sunday. Yum!
What summer projects are you excited about?

Dinner and a Quilt
I guess it should be dinner and a movie, but I have not seen any movies lately so a quilt
I finished my quilt last week. Sewing the binding on seemed to take forever but I am really happy with the results. Of course, my cat Tex had to be the first to enjoy it!
it is! I have been trying to prepare more vegetarian dinners lately, and last night I made
marinated tofu with sobo noodles. It was so delish! Relatively speaking, it didn't take too
long to prepare either. I'm taking leftovers to work for lunch today.

I started working on a Zig Zag quilt which will be my next quilt project. I spent Sunday,
and most of Monday cutting out 5 inch blocks. Monday night I started piecing the blocks. It's going to take a while but I am already looking forward to getting it together!
Happy 4 day work week peeps!
