Summery

Time has escaped me and my blog has been sorely neglected for months.  I am happy that some summery weather has finally arrived in Western New York!

A couple months ago I brought my nice camera over to the park to get some picture of the (then) new baby ducklings. I wish they would stay small forever. I have been back recently and they are nearly grown now.  Thankfully the picture capture that moment in time, full of fuzzy coats.

I recently added a couple new things to the shop.

A baby quilt. Full of summery goodness. I like that it is gender neutral and so very cheery! Measures 31 inches by 41inches.

A sweet, strawberry mug mat. This would be equally sweet on a dresser as it is on a table.

Lately the cats have been doing a lot of sunning! I can't blame them one bit!

On another note, are you watching Poldark on PBS?  Last night was the first episode. I think it promises to be a great series!

How is your summer going so far?

It's A Spring Thing

I just finished this baby quilt today, and I am just tickled about it!  This has been a long time WIP. It feels good to have finally finished it! I pieced the Mama Blocks using Scrumptious by Bonnie and Camille, and various vintage style fabrics.  The border is a sweet floral fabric by Heather Ross, and the
back is a floral print from Scrumptious.  It measures 35 1/2 inches by 35 inches. The generous size is great for baby and toddler too!

I was tempted to keep it for myself but ended up listing it in my shop
The sun is finally shining in Western New York but the temperature is anything but spring like! I was encouraged yesterday, however, when I saw 13 robins!  Our cardinal friend has also been
flitting around all around our residence calling out to his mate.  I am keeping the faith that spring is finally heading our way.

What signs of spring have you seen in your neighborhood?

Shop Update

The temperature is finally out of the negative range and I can feel spring trying to make its way here!  Folks, it has been a long, long winter here in Buffalo.  I am happy to finally see my cardinal friend tweeting from the tree in the backyard. My cats are enjoying the sunshine and so am I!

I have been playing with the oh-so-sweet Milk, Sugar, Flower line by Elea Lutz, and Pam Kitty Garden. Who can resist these sweet fabrics???

I'm working on a mini shop update. The mini quilts shown above have already been added. More to come!

December

How is it that December is here already?   It seems that Thanksgiving came and went so quickly.
I managed to get some new things listed in the shop and I'm so pleased with how they came out!

I really like that this table runner brings some cheer to a winter table! *Almost* feels like spring.

Have you been following along with Lori Holt's Have Yourself a Quilty Little Christmas quilt-a-long?
Lori has done a great job posting blocks on Instagram and they can be made in conjunction with Lori's book Quilty Fun.  I couldn't resist joining in on the fun!  Here is my finished quilt top!

I took advantage of the snowy November day to use as a backdrop to the quilt top. We're so lucky in Buffalo to have gotten so much snow before winter has even set in! (Wink, wink)

I hope to work on the quilt border over the coming weekend. It would be nice to finish before the actual holiday.

What holiday projects are you working on??

November

How is it November already?? Sometimes I feel like time is moving way too fast, and I'm not ready for what's next.

A few weeks back we took a drive out to a local apple farm, and out a little further to get pumpkins.  It was quite the brisk day out but we even drove out to the lake. Lola loved it out there!

Just look at all those apples!

I've been doing some sewing, although not as much as I'd like.  I finished these table toppers a couple weeks ago, and listed them in my shop. I pieced them using all Denyse Schmidt fabrics. They measure 19 inches by 19 inches. I quite like how they turned out!

I also recently purchased Lori Holt's Quilty Fun book and boy is it fun! I used her pattern to piece these apples and whip up a couple mini quilts. One of them is already hanging on my wall. The one below is in my shop.  It measures 11 inches by 13 inches. Yay for apples!

Here in Western New York the temperatures have been getting colder. In fact, it snowed earlier today! Last weekend, though it was quite cold out, the pets lined up on the deck to catch some sun.
I am grateful to have such nice pets!

Recent Makes

I know I'm late on hopping the bandwagon, but I am having a great time making blocks from Moda Modern Building Blocks!  I am enjoying being able to piece a block here or there, knowing that in the end I will have a stack of great blocks to piece a quilt.  I've only made a few so far.

I love the way the fabrics blend together in the block below!

This one might be my favorite so far!

And look at the kitties!  Eeep! I can't get enough of the Cotton and Steel kitties.

It looks as though Fat Quarter Shop will be getting more of the Moda Modern Building Blocks pattern in October.  You can also reserve a Moda Modern Building Blocks Quilt Kit through FQS.

I am having great fun pulling fabrics my stash to create each block.  I am not putting too much thought into it, but just going with what I feel drawn to. I look forward to having a scrappy quilt in the end!
