Blogiversary

Today is my 1 year blogiversary! It's amazing how fast time flies. Thank you to everyone who stops by to see what's cookin' at chez Swing Kitten. I appreciate all the comments you leave. :)
Today, we're celebrating with raspberry scones. They are so good! There's nothing like a fresh baked scone. Nothing. :)

I am so excited to be working on this table runner from a comfortstitching pattern. It's coming right along and I'm so glad to be using fabric from my stash! Yeah! Thanks Aneela for creating and sharing the pattern!

Last week a dear friend came over for a sewing lesson. I helped her make this mug rug and I think it came out so great! This was her first sewing project and now she's hooked! In fact, I sold her my used sewing machine and she came to pick it up yesterday. Today I heard from her and she's already sewing. Go Lauren!
Well, what can I say? It wouldn't be a Swing Kitten blogiversary without posting some kitty pictures. Harry and Tex thank you kindly for stopping by, as do I. :)

Have a great week peeps!

2 Things on a Friday

I bought this pattern on Etsy recently and I am dying to make the version on the right! School is so busy these days that sadly, I don't have time for much anything else. We have spring break in a week so I hope to get some quality sewing time in then!

This is one of my favorite vintage photos that I bought when I was living in Los Angeles. I think I bought it at the Long Beach Flea market actually. There was this paper dealer there who sold all types of paper ephemera and some old photos. I love that all 3 girls are wearing play suits/sun suits. I wonder where they were and who took the photo. They look like sweet friends.

On that note, is is summer yet??

What are you up to this weekend, peeps? I hope you all have a good one!

Welcome March!

To welcome the spring season I splurged on some vintage bangles on Etsy. The red one is bakelite and is deliciously red. I just *had* to have them. The fact that the seller is from Buffalo (my hometown) sealed the deal. I figure they'll be great with all the spring fashions I have dancing around in my head. That is, *if* I can ever get to sewing! ;)

Friday was a good thrift day! I found these cute vintage place mats. The material is bark cloth-like and printed with fruits. Super cute. Unfortunately, there were only 2.

I also found a vintage-inspired bow pin. Not sure when the piece is from but the price fit the budget and I figure it will look sweet on a spring dress. :)
I can never have too many baskets! I snagged this one for a buck and now my WIP (namely cross stitch) are sitting inside.
Here's the spread including an adorable plate from Germany featuring a schnauzer (sp?). It was too cute to pass up!
The other day I snapped this cuddly kitty photo. Tex and Harry napping up against one of my craft/sewing carts. Now if I could only get them to start making the muslins for some spring dresses! ;) LOL
Happy weekend peeps! What are you up to?

Fabric Goodness

Over the weekend I drove down to visit a friend and we attended a vintage expo. It was fun walking around and looking at stuff. Mostly high priced...well beyond my budget. Though there were some lovely jewels at one of the booths. If I had an extra grand....;)

Anyway, after the expo we went to a fabric store that I had never been to. Now this is my kind of shopping! ;) I'm afraid I added to the stash but I had too...you see, they had the most wonderful selection of feed sack prints. Feed sack prints are definitely my weakness. Eventually these beauties will be added to others I have at home to make a vintagey feeling quilt.

I couldn't resist this lovely red print. Going to make a summer dress....eventually.My friend and her husband have the cutest kitty kids! Here's Olive peeking out from underneath the coffee table. Cutey patootey. ;)
Mac and Weilan met me on the stairs...
School has been keeping me super busy for a week with a midterm and other exams. Finally in the home stretch now with my final test...a Bio lab practical tomorrow. I'll be test free for a few weeks anyway. Incidentally, my languishing craft table looks like this:

Too many projects, too little time I say! Please tell me I'm not the only one! ;)

Harry seems to be taking it all in stride! LOL

How's your week going?
